As I was driving down Queen Street from a 3 hour trip from my hometown, Leamington, I could hear the birds chirping, the sun shining and finally the buzz was in the city and everyone was feeling it. Yes, Fashion Week did arrive and this time was giving more of a pink punch then ever be…

It was the second day of the fashion week and a couple of sequences later there was absolute chaos and mayhem at the Taj Samudra with the sudden attacks from LTTE over Colombo. The otherwise peaceful ball room on the 7th floor was just about excited to welcome the celebrated Bangladeshi designer Bibi Russell and our very own Shobhaa De collections. Inspite of this traumatic experience the Colombo Fashion Week continued to its third day with an extra zeal of enthusiasm from the audiences and the…

Très Français! Très chic! Très jolie! And a gutsy expression of positive thinking at the end of a watershed season during which the economy was almost everyone’s chief obsession.
Which, Marc Jacobs maintains, is not his concern. “I’m sure the economic advisers are not worrying about what colors to make sweaters,” he said the day before his Louis Vuitton show. John Galliano RTW Fall 2009
After sending his Christian Dior girl off on a Persian jaunt, John Galliano also looked Eastward for his own collection — albeit to the far reaches of Eastern Europe. The result was a lineup that was as fantastic as it was fantastical. In fact, the only complaint is that his high-drama designs begged for more-elaborate staging, and the runway’s faux snowstorm, though visually appealing with its added laser lighting, only had guests coughing up a storm of their…

This season’s collections show a fore coming of strength and the aura of an unbreakable woman juxtaposed against the economy’s situation. The designers have conjured up designs splashed with palettes that display prosperity and a captivating way to find beauty in the darkness. Designs are preparing women for battle for a bigger impact. BCBG Maxazria collection represents body armour with a caramel, beige palette accompanied with black, heavy coats accented with copper metallic tights. While Mona…

The Summer is around the corner and the last images for summer and fall collections are still in the oven. The Clothing Market has expanded as never before and competition is fierce on price out in the stores.

From the deliriously strong chocolate martinis to the cascading fountains of milk chocolate it was clear that the fourth annual Cadbury Chocolate Couture Collection fashion show would be unlike any other. Guests were invited, nay, encouraged to gorge on an array of goodies that included cheesecake-infused chocolate balls and a platter of juicy strawberries, mangoes and pineapple. The decadence continued onto the runway where guests feasted their eyes on a chocolate couture collection fit for a q…
